Accessibility statement
For the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) charity tipping permit service.
Using this service
GMCA runs this service. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. For example, you should be able to:
- change colours using the light and dark themes, or your browser settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- get from the start of a page to the end using just a keyboard
- use the service with speech recognition software
- listen to the service using a screen reader
We have also made the text as easy to understand as we can.
The standard we aim for
We built this service to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AAA. This is the highest level. It means strong colour contrast, large buttons and links, and a clear outline on whatever you have selected with the keyboard.
How accessible this service is
We tested every page of this service in October 2026, in both colour themes and on small and large screens. We fixed the problems we found.
We know some parts are not yet fully accessible:
- the permit and Duty of Care note PDFs may not work well with screen readers
- some older application records may hold information in formats we no longer use
- the charity permit terms and conditions use legal wording that some people may find hard to read
If any of these stops you using the service, contact us and we will help.
What to do if you cannot use parts of this service
You may need information in a different format, such as an accessible PDF, large print, easy read or audio. Or you may need help to apply. If so, contact the Waste and Resources team:
- email GMWaste@greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk
- call 0161 778 7110
We will reply within 10 working days.
